ALEX LIU

Alex’s work explores the cultural implications of scientific knowledge for taboo topics like sexual health, and how societies negotiate meaning from science and morality. His passion for telling compelling stories that blend education, advocacy, and entertainment led him to found Herra Productions in 2011. Since then, he’s shepherded numerous video productions, developed his own successful YouTube channel with over 5,000 subscribers and over 1.2 million views, and wrote, produced, and directed his first feature documentary, A Sexplanation. Alex studied molecular toxicology at UC Berkeley, and Science, Health, and Environmental Reporting at New York University. He’s previously written and produced video, radio, and print content for NOVA scienceNOW, CNN Health, and the San Francisco NPR station KQED.

LEONARDO NERI

Leo is a tinkerer of ideas, words, and narratives. With a creative background in marketing and branding, Leo has helped develop brands such as Google Maps, Google Street View, YouTube, Uber, and more. Whether it’s campaign work, video production, or brand development, a throughline in Leo’s work is a combination of playful and pragmatic. Leo studied environmental policy at UC Berkeley. He enjoys reasonable length walks on the beach, but only if it’s overcast or nighttime. Evening into nighttime works, too.
